From 2012, Za’atari Refugee Camp gives shelter to more than 80.000 refugees run away from the Syrian civil war. It is placed in a mostly desert area near the Syrian border in the north Jordan.

Vector has worked together with the Build Peace Foundation donating its technical know-how and logistic and administrative support for the development of temporary, modular and re-deployable structures. Through this collaboration, it has been possible the creation of some buildings in the refugee camp. The donated buildings have been used to create the UN Women Oasis Center for Women Empowerment and the UNHCR Arts+Crafts Center for Young Syrian Refugee Talents. The first center gives syrian women the instruments to discover their hidden resources, and it guides them thorugh the awarness of their potential, while the l’Arts+Crafts Center gives the young refugees the possibility to develop their artistic capabilities.
